Bondage Rope

Rope Bondage is used in kinky activities that fall under the BDSM umbrella. The dominant ties up the submissive to establish the power dynamic, arousing both parties.

While beginners in rope practice can practice simple tying-up practices, experts can do highly-advanced rope bondage like Shibari. Some veterans in rope play may even suspend their partners in the air with this technique.

Rope play requires specialized ropes as household ropes may cause harm. If you’re interested in bondage play, check out our ropes above. We’re the trusted sex toy shop in the Philippines, providing discreet shipping nationwide.

  • What can I do with rope in the bedroom?
You can use it to experiment with bondage! Don’t get too fancy with your rope-tying until you’ve practiced a lot, or even better yet, consulted professionals.
  • What are the different types of bondage rope?
There are 2 categories of bondage rope: natural rope and synthetic. Natural ropes tend to be rougher. Examples are hemp, linen, jute, cotton, silk, bamboo, coir, manila, sisal, etc. Synthetic ropes made of nylon, paracord, polyester, synthetic hemp, or multifilament polypropylene are generally smoother and easier on the skin.
  • Where did rope bondage originate?
Rope bondage is also known as Shibari. Shibari was derived from an art form in Japan that involves erotic or artistic tying called Kinbaku. This, in turn, came from Hojojutsu in the late Edo period, when Seiu Ito started studying the art of binding a prisoner of war.

History of Rope Bondage

Rope bondage, also known as the art of Shibari, was derived from Kinbaku. The art form of artistic or erotic tying started when Seiu Ito studied the art of binding a prisoner of war in the late Edo Period. Kinbaku became widely popular in 1950s Japan thanks to magazine publications like Kitan Club and Yomikiri Romance, which featured the first sets of naked people in bondage ropes.

By the 1960s, shows featuring sadomasochistic shows featuring rope bondage were in circulation. The art form continued to grow over the years, and in the 1990s, the term “shibari” was coined. It literally meant “to die decoratively” and is now popularly used to describe the bondage art of Kinbaku.

Shibari is now becoming more popular in the west. This trend can be attributed to current pop culture and BDSM-themed films such as Fifty Shades of Grey.

How We Choose Our Ropes

We carefully select the ropes that we feature in our store. We make sure that they are suited for bedroom play. We stock distinct lengths and materials to suit your bondage needs.

You may choose a natural rope better suited to more experienced rope enthusiasts. Synthetic ropes are more delicate on the skin and are cheaper than natural ones – making them a great entry point for those early in the experimentation process.

We also ensure that there’s a type of rope that would work on every skill level. So whether you’re a beginner or an expert in the art of rope bondage, you can surely count on the shop to fulfill your BDSM needs.

Care & Maintenance

It’s important to equip yourself with the proper knowledge about bondage but knowing how to cut your ropes. A rope of 2.5 to 5 meters is a good length for sectional bondage. Traditional Shibari length is 7.5 meters. If you’re going for full-body bondage, 10 meters is required.

Ensuring your length is appropriate for use is important, but making sure you properly care for and maintain the ropes is also essential. Wash the ropes regularly and let them dry in properly before storing them.

Keep in mind that some materials, particularly the natural ones, aren’t cleaned like regular garments; research first about the cleaning process before proceeding with washing it.
