You’re basically attracting your desire, similar to the law of attraction, by assuming that it’s already in your life. From there, you act the after-emotions with full belief and trust until your desire finally arrives and becomes a part of your reality.
The latter takes practice and discipline for it to become natural to you, but this manifestation technique allows you to enjoy the ride as you won’t feel pressure about getting your desires (because it’s already yours; it’s all about timing).

1 You feel more relaxed.
In contrast with the Law of Attraction, wherein your thoughts become and reshape your reality, the Law of Assumption allows you to lay back and watch how things unravel for you, trusting that your desires are meant for you. Having such confidence and strong belief reshapes the way you live your life, being able to handle any challenges along the way because it’s part of the path the Universe made for you.
2 It encourages positivity from a different perspective.

This is something you should work on, like how would I feel when I have this desire? Once you sort that out, start acting that way.

3 You get to know yourself more.
The great thing about this law or manifesting, in general, is learning how your mind and body work at an intimate level. You’ll understand why your mind thinks the way it does, perhaps pinpointing aspects of your lives that may be responsible for thinking that way. It can be positive or negative, wherein for the latter, you can always find a way to reframe it and feel much better about yourself moving forward.
Disadvantages of the Law of Assumption
With the advantages, there are also some downsides to the Law of Assumption. Here’s what you need to know about them.
1 There’s no factual science behind it.
Manifestation is a pseudoscience without concrete proof of whether or not it exists. Although there are links between those laws, including the Law of Assumption, and quantum physics, there is still some skepticism around it.
2 It can possibly suppress your real emotions.
This disadvantage can only occur if you don’t practice the Law of Assumption properly. That’s why we have a whole section about how to properly apply it in the next section.
Our emotions are fluid, wherein we simultaneously feel happy and dissatisfied with some aspects of our lives. It happens, and it’s part of life. But in this case with this law, sometimes you shouldn’t fake it ‘til you make it.
Don’t deny nor push away your true emotions when you’re manifesting. During the worst-case scenarios, please don’t gaslight yourselves either.
3 It’s not for impatient people.
People crave for instant gratification whenever they want something in their life right away. That’s because they already want to enjoy the thing and possibly live a better life with them. Hence, it can make them impatient to simply get what they want and move on.
Quite hung up on the outcome, but if that’s your way of thinking, then the Law of Assumption may not be for you. That’s because as you apply it, you may feel antsy within the first few days and months for it to arrive. You may be urged to keep asking the universe when it will arrive.
In other words, there’s no given time of when you’ll get your desires through this law. So if you’re an easily impatient person, this law may only repel them away, bringing you closer to them.
How to Properly Apply the Law of Assumption In Your Life
Onto to the fun part! Let’s begin your journey to applying this law to your lifestyle with these helpful activities.
1 Practice visualization.
Picture what you currently want or where you want to achieve in the future. From there, ask yourself what kind of personality traits or actions you should do to act like the person who already has their desires. When you figure that out, start embodying that person. You can start as little as you want and then consistently build it up. It’s almost like an act of self-love too when you wish and work for better things in your life.
Even if any of your desires haven’t come true yet, believe that in some part of your life moving forward, you already have it. So act as if you’re in that phase of your life to attract more desires.

2 Trust in the timing.
Think of these desires like food you order in a restaurant, wherein you let the chefs cook it while you wait for it to be served. You wouldn’t question it because you are sure that the food will arrive when it’s ready to be eaten. Let go, live your life as is with the new emotions fueled by assuming your desires, and await for things to unfold at the right time.
3 Release any negative or self-limiting beliefs.
Thinking like “I don’t deserve this desire.” or “I am never going to get my desires” further pushes us away from them and creates more blockages in our path. Also, saying that you want this desire but with a tone of desperation and need may actually repel you away from it. These kinds of beliefs are matters worth working on and fixing first with yourself before trying the law of assumption so that you’d feel freer and lighter within your surroundings, perceiving life with a more optimistic view.
Your mind and desires must be aligned with one another to come true.
4 Things always work out no matter what.
Sometimes, the path to our desires may not be how we imagined it to be. However, firmly believe that things work out for you no matter how it looks like at any given time. Quite an affirmation, but remember that the Universe (and whichever religion you believe in) has better plans for you. It does help to be delusional too!
5 Practice it along with other mental health practices.
Once you say, “Oh, this [desire] is already mine”, you can always leave it as is. However, it further helps to be in touch with yourself through more practices that enhance the Law of Assumption.
Some extra mental health practices you can do include:
- Practicing gratitude to appreciate the things around you
- Journaling to voice your deep thoughts
- Meditation to ease your mind from anxiety and unease
- Reciting affirmations to strengthen your beliefs, such as “I am content with that this [desire] is mine.” and “I deserve that [desire]. It already belongs to me.”
- Shadow work to confront your inner dark feelings and setbacks
