Got this menstrual cup set? Awesome! Here’s how to use this set. To use the menstrual cup, start by making sure your hands, and menstrual cup is clean. After that, go to the bathroom and get in a comfortable position. The most popular positions are squatting and sitting with your legs spread open. Then, fold your menstrual cup to ensure seamless insertion in your vagina. You can try several folds, with the most popular ones being the c-fold and punch-down fold; you can check the manual or online guides for more details.
With your free hand, part your labia lips. While your cup is folded, insert its rim first into your vagina; do it around a 45-degree angle, aiming it towards the base of your spine. Slowly push your cup in until you can no longer see the end of the stem or reach an end, then release. Make sure to trace your finger around the cup’s base to check if it’s fully open. If you feel any dents or folds, gently grip the cup’s base and slowly rotate it; this will help it unfold.
And that’s it, you’ve successfully inserted the menstrual cup! Wear your period cup for a maximum of 10-12 hours at a time; this is for regular flow. If you have a heavier menstrual flow, you may need to shorten the interval and empty it more than twice a day. Mirko’s small menstrual cup can generally hold 4x the capacity of your regular tampon or pad.
As for removal, get into the bathroom again and go for your preferred position. Reach for the base and pinch. After pinching, the cup’s suction seal should break inside your vaginal canal. Fold the cup to a smaller size and slowly pull it out.
Quickly wash the cup every time you remove it and before reinsertion. Use mild, unscented oil-free soap or water to clean your cup. Once you’re done with the cycle, you need to sterilize your cup before storing it. You can submerge the menstrual cup in boiling water or use the sterilizer cup; put the menstrual cup inside the Mirko Sterilizer cup with water and place the lid lightly on the top (DO NOT completely seal the lid). Microwave the cup for 1-2 minutes to disinfect. We recommend repeating the process in between cycles. Please check the included manual for full details.
